New Food, New Adventure, New Outfit

Sarah has mango for the first time. I think it's a bit sweet for her. She doesn't seem to mind it when it is mixed with peaches.

Sarah went with me to get my hair done. I had a 8:30am appointment. We got there early and I fed her breakfast (really lunch food) in the car. She sat on my lap the whole time except after she got warmed up and let a couple people hold her. She started crying the second we got inside and cried off and on after that like when I was getting my hair washed. Eventually she got alright. She was worn out by the time we got home.

First shorts! It's hot down here! This is a Nana outfit! Sarah was looking good for her first fair. We went to the fair on Saturday and I was glad I hadn't put a lot of thought into it because there was no where to sit and nurse her. Luckily my friend had brought a waterproof blanket and we sat on it (Ron went too) and ate hot dogs and I TRIED to feed Sarah. She was too busy looking. She ate her lunch just fine though. I guess because she could see. Anyways, I think she enjoyed looking at all the people and things. Not sure she saw any of the animals (again).

Will Sarah be a power forward or a point guard? If she plays basketball at all of course. I know she's got the moves and seems to know what to do with the ball.

New Skills

Some of you know that Sarah has trouble getting to sleep at naptime because she can't stop rolling over and trying to crawl. Well, now after she wears herself out doing that, she lays there and claps. It's so cute how she concentrates so hard. She's so excited to be clapping. "Yeah, Sarah! Good job!" And she starts clapping for herself! It all makes sense because she used to talk and throw her legs at naptime.

Just wanted to let you all see how strong Sarah has gotten. It's hard to get videos of her doing these things because she gets distracted.

By the way, last night in the bathtub, Sarah's hands made some noise when she clapped. :)

Sarah has been trying to clap for a few days but she just started really doing it...with the hands meeting and all. No sound yet. Maybe she was clapping for Octavia! Happy birthday!!!!

Sarah Goes Zooing

Sarah and I went to the zoo today. It's less than 30 minutes away. Met with some other moms. Now I haven't been to the zoo since I was little. I was amazed at how close the animals seemed and how they seemed to be separated from us by a moat.
See the space at the lower right. The elephants sure were stinky.
The vultures. I think this was the only real fence we saw.
Sarah was too busy looking at the people to look at the animals. I was able to get her to look at the ostrich and the giraffes through the camera.
I thought I should show you that I took her with me. :)

Playgrounds and Sandboxes

April 17th, 2008 This was Sarah's first time in a sandbox. I now know why people want their kids to have their own sandbox. It had lotsa sticks and caterpillars and stuff. And of course no cover. Needless to say, I did not allow Sarah to put that sand in her mouth!

We really liked this playground. This was Sarah's first time in a swing alone and first time on a see saw. Definitely her first time on a chipmunk's back.

Minor Emergency

Had a little problem. My glasses broke on Friday. I taped them but they wouldn't sit straight and were giving me an awful headache. I could have cried. But today I have new glasses so THANK YOU, LORD!

Trying to Crawl/Walk

Sarah has been trying to crawl, walk and stand up (which she can do in some places). She was in the pack n play yesterday and I turned around and she was standing up. I ran and got the camera and when I came back, she was laid out, limbs spread like she had free fallen.

Sarah had oatmeal for the first time. She didn't seem to notice that it wasn't rice cereal or that I added water instead of all milk.

Tia Joy Keeps the Oil Companies In Business

Tia Joy drove down to see us! She was a great relief since Sarah had had her first case of "I'm going to cry and not stop and you won't be able to figure out what's wrong." By the time she got here, and Ron got home, Sarah was ok but I needed a mental break! After Sarah went to bed, Joy and I went out to dinner. It was nice to get away and talk to someone who knows me.

Unfortunately, while Joy was visiting us, Bijoux and Xia (her doggies) got missing. [This is where I explain the title.] With coming to see us and driving all over looking for them, the oil company made a lot of money. I'm glad to say that they are now home safe and sound!

Sarah was pretty happy about her new hat. I was glad because it doesn't have the chin strap. She's worn it several times and it hasn't hit the ground YET.

The temperature was in the low 80s so we broke out a new dress that I got for Sarah. This picture was right after waking from a nap and she wasn't quite ready for pictures yet...

...but it didn't take long for her to be ready.

Sarah doesn't kiss me on the cheek much anymore. Recently, I thought she was kissing me but she bit me. I was shocked. Not sure why but I was.

Loaded Baked Potato

Ok. You all read the blog. How come nobody warned me about the white potato diaper? The first one was small but just awful. The second one made my tummy hurt. I had to eat a lolly pop to get that smell out of my sinuses! And most of you know that I don't eat candy very often. Sarah won't be having white potatoes for a few days. I'm not ready!

More First Foods

I know some of you might not really want to hear everytime Sarah has a new food but this blog also helps me keep up with Sarah's milestones too so I'm just catching up here.

Sarah has her first taste of blueberries. After I pureed them, I realized that they aren't really a food but a flavor so we use them to change up her apple sauce.

I went to Earth Fare today. I was running out of peaches and some other foods that I had made and put in the freezer. So we are all stocked up now. I even found some organic frozen cube baby food without additives. So I got some foods that I hadn't been able to find (organic) to make myself like pears and I got some meats (I was concerned about doing these myself). So those foods will show up here with funny faces in the future.

We had a good day today. I took Sarah to Leapin' Lizards again (a bounce/playplace). She enjoyed it. She even slapped George's hand a few times. She was good and tired when we got home.
