Adventures in Potty Training

We started potty training this past Thursday, May 21st, 2009. By potty training I mean using the big potty, no pull ups or diapers...all the way! Sarah is doing excellent and we are doing pretty good too.
She has a potty routine which includes a sticker (or two if they are small) and a song and dance. Her favorite stickers and song is Dora the Explorer. She doesn't regularly watch the show but she knows all the characters names and loves Dora and her friends. She has Elmo underwear but today we went out in public and she wore Dora big girl underwear. She did great. Did not have to potty at all. When we got home she pee peed so much that she must have been holding it in! She has pooped in the potty twice so I hope she has turned the corner.

"Bye bye poop."

First time venturing outside in big girl underwear.

"Trike!" Cousin Glennis gave Sarah her trike and she loves it!

First outing to storytelling and craft. She painted a panda.

Back home and still in big girl underwear! "Cheese!"

Working in Our Concrete Garden

May 12th, 2009
Ms. Kendra and Mr. Bob gave Sarah a wheelbarrow. We keep it in the trunk of the car and pull it out when she plays outside. She likes to put leaves and sticks in it.

This was the first time she was fascinated by the wheel. If this had been in the house, she would have long gotten over the wheel and used it to climb up on something.

I Scream! You scream!

...we all scream for ice cream!!!

This was Sarah's first ice cream. Vanilla. At first she turned away from it. Shocking! "Not my child!" But then she tasted it and decided it was ok for it not to be plastic. She preferred to eat it by spoon rather than from the cone but she prefered the waffle cone over the ice cream.

Sorry. I did 6 posts today so you may have to go to older posts to see them all. Happy Mother’s Day!

Turning away! "What?!"

She tore that waffle cone up. A stranger commented on how much she was "enjoying that cone!"

My Second Mother's Day!

May 10th, 2009
Happy Mother's Day to you all! I have been enjoying my second Mother's Day tremendously! After a great night of sleep, we talked to several of the important women in our lives and I opened cards. Then we watched Oprah give Duke's commencement speech live via oprah.com. After that we set out for my ICE CREAM! Ummmm umm!

"Birds!"

May 3rd, 2009
Ron had to go to his office so we tagged along and walked/played on campus. Sarah always wants to see the birds up close and there were a lot of birds on campus. She tried and tried. She would run after them saying "BIRDS!"
Looking for birds. (Near Ron's building.)

Still looking.

"Birds!"

20 Month Birthday

April 29th, 2009

Sarah turned 20 months on April 29th. She counted to 13 all by herself. It is amazing how much she is learning and growing.
She knows her alphabet. Only has problems with "N." She is singing songs. She can sing Rock-A-Bye Baby. Her favorite book right now is one we checked out from the library called Duck On A Bike. It has all the farm animals in it and she loves animals. She says a few names on her own when we help her say her prayers. And she can help say her grace.
She is such a sweet girl and gives us lots of hugs and kisses.
Happy Birthday, Sarah!!!

Fun with Grandma and Papa

April 25th, 2009
Grandma and Papa came to visit and Sarah had so much fun!

Finding eggs with Grandma. (Yes, the eggs are retired now.)

"Stack em', Grandma!"

Sarah has always liked to kiss all over Grandma. Is she putting sugar on her cheeks?

April 26th, 2009

Grandma had to spend almost her whole visit on the floor.

One last picture with Grandma and Papa before they left. Sarah has on a new dress that Grandma bought her. Thank you for visiting us! And thank you Auntie Grace for getting the steps and carseat to Grandma for us!

Fun at the Fair

April 25th, 2009
The Sparkleberry Country Fair We went to this fair last year but this year was a lot more fun! It helps not to have to breastfeed! Sarah rode the train and the tractors. She saw all kinds of animals and petted two bunny rabbits. She was talking about "animals" for days. She also played in a bubble machine that made huge bubbles! She couldn't get enough of it! We also got her fingerprints and a picture from the Sherriff's department to keep in our own records. When we were leaving, she "drove" a real firetruck and loved it. Didn't want to get out! It was a great morning. (Pictures loaded backwards. I guess I will have to put them up in reverse order. :p )
